Hubert de Givenchy designed Audrey Hepburn's principal wardrobe — the black dress, the pearl choker, the gloves, the hat — while Edith Head was Paramount's costume supervisor on the film. The Paris original showed too much leg for the production, so Head redesigned the lower half of the dress everyone now photographs.
