Albert Wolsky designed the film and sourced genuine 1950s sharkskin for the finale trousers. Olivia Newton-John described the risk: "They were so old, and there was just one pair, so there was no room for error. One rip and disaster." Big enough to catch the light at the carnival
For the first half: a cardigan buttoned at the top, a full circle skirt hitting mid-calf, a neck scarf and flat shoes. Pastels — yellow, mint, powder blue. Nothing saturated. For the finale: high-waisted black trousers with real stretch, an off-shoulder black top, and a cropped leather jacket. The trousers should be shiny — satin or sateen, not matte. Red lips and heels for the second half only. That contrast is the whole costume, so if you're doing both halves in one night, keep the makeup change dramatic. And for either version, the hair carries it: soft and set for early Sandy, big and tousled for the finale.
